The most important offsite factor is inbound links. These links are the one of the best ways to rank higher in search engine results. Each link to your site is viewed as a vote for your site’s importance. The ideal inbound links are from sites ranked higher than yours, are relevant to your site’s content, and are linked using keywords relevant to your site.

So how do you get these links aside from letting it happen naturally? Make sure to write quality content that people will want to read. Submit your links to directories. You can either start or join a blog network and interlink your blogs. You can buy links but be very careful as Google tends to penalize sites that they think purchase links. Another way is to swap links with other sites but there is a belief that search engines track these methods and devalue the links.
